The requirement
The plant needed reliable rejection of process heat: 350 GPM of process water returning at 42 °C, to be cooled to 34.9 °C and sent back to the process.
The solution
ValensAir developed and built a 150-ton cooling tower for the duty and installed it at the pharmaceutical plant. The tower is in service, providing process cooling.
How it works
A cooling tower rejects process heat to the atmosphere. Warm water from condensers, heat exchangers or process equipment is spread over fill media while a fan draws ambient air through it. A small fraction of the water evaporates, carrying heat away, and the cooled water collects in the basin and returns to the process.
